I’ve been shooting twenty-two Caliber rifles for many decades. My favorite for plinking right now is a M&P 15-22 and Ruger Mark IV. So when CMMG reached out to me about trying their new CMMG Zeroed Suppressors I was excited to try something new. I’ve never shot a suppressed firearm, or gone through the FFL paperwork and process for owning a suppressor. With the suppressor tax previously being lifted the timing was right to try one our, and share my experience with you.

Ordering, Shipping, and taking Possition
First off, I had to locate an FFL dealer that would accept the shipment/transfer of NFA items. This was slightly harder than I had anticipated. I had to call around to a few places locally that would accept the shipment and were licensed to do so. I then had to fill out my ATF form 4,Provide fingerprints, photographs, and background checks. After this was complete the application took another four weeks to be approved. At that time I was able to take possession of the suppressor. Don’t expect this to be a quick process.
*Please check your state’s NFA restrictions to understand them before ordering.

Bore Alignment
After having my possession, I was excited to try it out. I had read that you need to have your suppressor aligned with your barrel to avoid any damage or failure. I looked around for a 22 bore alignment rod, and found that it was harder to locate for a smaller caliber. After some additional research, I opted optical alignment, removing the barrel and visually inspecting it for an accurate alignment with the suppressor.

CMMG Zeroed 22 Plus
I opted for the zeroed twenty two plus Suppressor. It’s basically two suppressors in one, offering a longer and shorter version Depending on the overall length you’re aiming for. You simply remove the inside baffles and insert them into the shorter version or add baffles for the longer.
CMMG Offers purchasing these separate, However, they will have individual serial numbers, So there is some benefit to purchasing the “Plus”, vs. each individually.

My CMMG Zeroed 22 Experience
After reviewing the safety notices from the owner’s manual, I took the suppressor out of the range. I had both subsonic and supersonic 22 ammo to compare the difference.
I had already aligned it prior to arriving, but double checked at the range. The overall build quality, ease of dismantling and cleaning, install and removal were very easy. It makes plinking around so much more fun, would definitely recommend as an accessory to a .22.
