Technical Specs & Performance
When you first look at the Ritter Insulated Jacket, the first thing you’ll notice is the unique stitching design. The jacket weighs 1 lb, somewhat heavier than the ultralight down jackets out there – yet the weight comes from the quality. Sturdy zippers, reinforced seams around the armpits and sides. The overall amount of insulation is more significantly than others, resulting in more warmth and weather protection. The material has a matte finish without any sheen. The actual shell exterior has some thickness and durability that you can feel. While many light weight insulated jacket have less than paper-thin exterior material, the Ritter Insulated jacket seems to be more durable and abrasion resistant.
Sturdy Zippers
The heavy duty zippers have a unique design “invisible zipper” design, where the zipper tape actually covers the zipper when closed. The nylon coil of the zipper is located on the back side, covered by the zipper tape. This has some serious upsidesin cold weather, the zipper tape cover offers more protection from the elements. Many other coats just have two separating zippers – leaving little spaces for air to get through. The tear drop pull down is made of metal, with a small rope extension for easy access with gloves on.
4″ High Collar
The insulated collar is significantly taller than other comparable jackets. About 1/3 taller than other jackets. This means you get full coverage, all the way up to your chin – without hunching down like a turtle. This is an awesome feature. Say goodbye to neck warmers. The Ritter gives you amazing insulation and warmth around your neck, yet the versatility to just unzip when you don’t need it. If you’ve ever been skiing and have ended up with your neck warmer stuffed into your coat pocket at the end of the day when the sun came out – the ritter is worth every penny for that feature alone.
