Introduction
I will answer the question, is the TREW Jefferson jacket and bib pants right for you? Keep reading to know if the TREW Jefferson Jacket and Bib outdoor clothing is the best option for your money on your next outdoor ski or snowboard adventure.
This is the second TREW jacket I have owned, and have been using the TREW Capow Jacket in the backcountry for almost a decade now. I have used the TREW Jefferson jacket and Jefferson Bib for the past few months and this is my honest review to help you know if the Jefferson Jacket and Bib will meet your expectations.
Firstly, understanding that there are a lot of personal preferences from colors and fit, I’ll try my best to call out subjective observations and provide what I think would be the most helpful information when deciding if the investment in TREW outerwear is worth the cost.
Trew Jefferson Jacket Review
The Trew Jefferson Jacket is designed for wet, windy, and rugged riding in all conditions. The jacket has a heavy denear stitching in an oxford pattern (over over under, instead of over, under, over, under,) that gives it a more durable texture and feel.
The Jefferson jacket has all the necessary features. The seams are taped with 2-layer tape to keep the water and wind out. Starting from the top and hood that will fit over a helmet, with drawstrings and a cord in the back to enable more visibility on the peripheral. A large chest pocket for holding even the largest cell phone. There are two hand pockets and a pass pocket on the left arm. The bottom hem has a draw cord for keeping snow out. For evacuating heat quickly there are two large zippers under each arm.
On the inside, you will feel a soft layer of nylon covering the 2-layer protection. There is a large mesh pocket great for holding gloves or small skins. The removable powder skirt is great for trapping in heat and keeping snow out. There is no pant-to jacket integration but the powder skirt has a rubber coating to keep it in place.
The jacket includes a RECCO® reflector, a passive location device that can be used in avalanche rescue and recovery.
Cost: $319.00 USD
Color: Black and Sandstone, Sagebrush, Anthracite
Sizes: XS, S, M, L, XL, XXL
The TREW Jefferson Jacket has a relaxed fit. I’m 5’10” tall and weigh about 165 lbs. I am wearing a size Large in both the jacket and pants. Wearing a large one gives me plenty of room for mid and heavy-weight insulation layers.
The Jefferson Jacket is a great resort jacket for wet, windy, and rugged riding. The jacket is a 2-layer of nylon fabric with a polyurethane membrane and a nylon internal. It has all the features I like and appreciate from a modern jacket for resort riding and off-piste days.
One complaint I have about the Jefferson jacket is that the arm holes are a bit small to easily get over gloves. I wish they were a bit larger to reduce the struggle.

Final Thoughts
I like the color options of the Jefferson jacket. The lower price point for the 2L construction still offers plenty of waterproofing with a soft comfortable fabric. The Jefferson jacket has all the features necessary for a comfortable ski or snowboard jacket with a large hood, arm-pit zippers to dump heat quickly, a pass pocket on the arm, and a powder skirt for trapping heat inside and keeping snow out.
Trew Jefferson Bib Review
The Trew Jefferson bib is described as a relaxed fit. The bib has all the seams taped with a 2-layer tape that helps prevent cold air and moisture from getting in. The hand pocket zippers are water-resistant which can make them a little harder to open. The other zippers on the bib are non-water-resistant zippers. The front zipper has a 2-way zipper for easy bathroom breaks without removing the bibs straps. There are two front chest pockets on the bibs. One has an additional key-ring holder or a place to attach a leash for your transceiver on the right side. These pockets are plenty big to hold even the largest cell phones.
If you get hot in the Jefferson Bib, unzip the two vents on the inner legs to allow a quick way to dump excess heat and perspiration.
It has articulated knees with a “tough scuff” abrasion-resistant fabric around the bottom of the pants to prevent damage from dragging on the ground and ski edges. On the inside of the leg is an internal boot gaiter to keep snow from finding its way up into your pant leg when boot packing.
The pant includes a RECCO® reflector, a passive location device that can be used in avalanche rescue and recovery.

The TREW Jefferson bib is a comfortable well well-fitting bib that offers me a lot of leg movement. I am 5’10” tall about 165 lbs. I was wearing the size large with the suspender straps fully extended. I would worry a little if you were much taller that the large may feel a little tight in the crotch because of this. You may consider sizing up if you like more room. I like the overall fit, simplicity, and pocket placement of the bibs. There is something nice about feeling protected up your back and chest.
One problem I have with bibs is that I get cold easily and like to wear multiple layers that often don’t all fit under the bibs. This can feel uncomfortable if I am packing layers inside the bib vs. wearing them over the top which kind of defeats the purpose of the additional pockets on the front of the bib.
Overall, I felt the waterproof and windproof of the bibs to be great. There was enough room in the legs for a base and mid-layer for those really cold days. The vents are always nice to have to quickly dump heat on the lower half of the body.
